Just wanted to put some rules out there and get a good discussion going. Not looking for a gripe session, just some good feedback!!!!
We are starting to get some flat kart interest and not really sure if Texoma is going to add the class or not. I know of nine or ten karts as of today. We can do like the flat kart guys do in Elgin, we can control and tech ourselves. I think we can start with a gentlemen’s agreement, but when things start to get out of hand we will start policing the karts. Below are a mix of Elgin rules and some of our own. Would like to be able to keep with other’s rules, that way karts could travel around and be legal wherever they run with no problems.
Adult Flat Kart Rules
GENERAL RULES:
1. Kart must be in good working order.
2. Must have hydraulic brakes no front brakes accepted.
3. Must have an easy to grab spark plug wire (with a large zip-tie pointed up).
4. No battle bars will be accepted and bars must be covered.
5. Go Kart and the driver must weigh a minimum of 350 lbs.
6. Minimum age 15 as of the beginning of the race season.
7. Must have full nose piece minimum and side panels, full body preferred?
Engine:
AKRA Box Stock Rules
Open Pipe
Drum or Disc Clutch OK
Must be pull cord started, and ran on pump gasoline (no racing gasoline).
Tires:
Must be slicks, no cutting of siping.
Safety:
Racer must wear driver suit or an exception of denim pants and a heavy jacket.
Neck brace, helmet and gloves are required.
Feel free to post if you would like to add some ideas. Again this is a start. We just want to get things understood before it’s too late
